My week in a flash

This week was weird; It didn't go by fast yet it wasn't slow either...It was just there. Most people were on a Hype for the Royal wedding which I thought was a little over the top until I actually caught a little video this morning and got a little teary. It is a happily ever after story after all. Awww! ;) I don't have any special plans for the weekend so we'll see what comes our way.

Inspired by......

I remember loving photographs as a kid, I could literally spend hours in the basement staring at faces I didn't even know. My favourite ones though, were of my parents in their beginnings together.. There was something about the pictures I found on shehitpausestudio.com that reminded me of those pictures and other childhood memories. Buttermilk-Thyme Drop Biscuit

I don't know what's been going on with the weather lately but it's been pretty chilly and rainy this past week. On the bright side of things, it was the perfect weather to curl up with some hot soup and these buttermilk thyme drop biscuit that are truly easy to make. I did go *a little* overboard with the salt but they still came out tasty. These little biscuits are definitely to be paired with hearthy Autumn stews or soups. You can find the full recipe {here} .

{ Fresh Thyme}

{ Flour, salt, baking powder & baking soda becomes fluffy when paired with buttermilk}

{Bake until golden}

I am also going to try substituting the Thyme for dried cranberry for a more breakfast appropriate biscuit. Enjoy!

A little colour never hurt anyone...

I know I have been going on and on about nude colours lately but today I wore my new bright red top seen here to work paired with a high waisted black and white chiffon skirt and got many compliments on how bright colours looked so nice on me.. Hummm..Ironically, I had already started working on a post that talked about this summer's brights so I decided that today was THE day. Here it goes; I am really warming up to pretty brights! Those of you who know me well know I am always drawn to "funeral appropriate" colours. I wouldn't wear brights head to toe but I am lusting at the above jeans that I would simply try out with a white tank and cute gold tone sandals. Saturday at the market...

Saturday was beautiful and warm out. I decided it was a great day to plan a nice meal and head to the farmers market to purchase all of what was needed (And more!) hehehe.. I am lucky enough to live 20 minutes away from Granville Island which boast from locally grown vegetables to the cutest antique shops you can find. It was packed with people, who like me had decided to get out of the rain rut and shop around. I could literally spend hours there shopping around for fruits, hand made jewellery and fish and chips! I gave my pictures a little vintage look because the market reminded of my childhood and I wanted to give them that old vibe...

Oh and if you were wondering, the meal I made was sausage, shrimp jambalaya. Turned out good but I have to say, it looks simple but trust me it gets a little complicated at times ;)

Easter Sushi

These are just the cutest little sweets to serve as an Easter Treat. I came across the recipe on seriouseats.com and just had to share. They are really

easy to make, enjoy!

(Slice 6 slices lenghtwise of a rice Krispies treat)

(Execute six peeps of your colored choice..Cut off more neck than necessary)

(Flatten the rice Krispie and roll away..)

(Cover rolled up rice krispie with a peeps head and use fruit roll up as "sea weed")

Serve in a cute tray and impress your guests!

Week Inspiration

This past week flew right past me. Okay, it did help that it was only a 4 day week, but still. I've been wanting to post more but got a little caught up in other things (That you will know about soon enough ;) No worries. ) It's finally Friday and here on the West coast, the weather is all sunny skies! I am looking forward to going to the public market on Granville Island and maybe enjoying a terrace dinner. But before the weekend, here are things that inspired my week.

How Fun is this?

Aren't these four legged creatures so cute? Look closer.........yep they are made out of Louis Vuitton handbags! When I came across these, I had to share. LV actually asked visual artist Billie Achilleos to get inspired and create four animals using the goods! Good way to recycle purses that's for sure!

Billie graduated in 2007 from the Wimbledon College for Arts and has since been working on many projects from illustrating to making origami displays :)

"Childhood smells of perfume and brownies.."

Jimmy Choo is best known for his shoes but luckily the femininity and sensuality found in his designs are now available in a beautifully crafted perfume. Mmmm!! I am no expert in perfumes so I won't be telling you about all of it's different notes ;) but one thing I do know, it smells just as his shoes look: Amazing! It comes perfectly with the arrival of spring/summer.

I am really faithful when it comes to perfumes (And pretty much everything else). I wore CK One for the longest time during my teenage years, then Lanvin during the beginning of my twenties and now I have been wearing Prada Lavender. Though I really like the Prada, it reminds me of winter so Jimmy will be my Summer scent.

I know I only found it at the Bay but look for other locations too, it might be available elsewhere near you.

For those of you who frequently read the posts on my blog, you have come to recognize my obsession with this summer's flowy fabrics and nude colours. I created the above set on this rainy saturday morning day dreaming of the sunny weekends that are to come... (Hopefully soon!) I really like the touch of turquoise that adds just the right amount of punch to the outfit.

The best way to appreciate your work is to imagine yourself without one...

I had been jobless since arriving in Vancouver and I have to say it was a somewhat difficult time for me. Yes, I did try to keep myself pretty busy but this little part of me yearned for something more. Forward a month later and I am newly employed! Yay! (Funny enough, I caught myself day dreaming today about the days when I got to sleep in and relish every minute of my day..Aren't we ever satisfied?) So to update all of you, work has been great so far. I've gotten to meet a really genuine team of people and i'm looking forward to learning so much from them.

I took my camera with me this morning so I could take pictures on my way to work. With a scenery like this one, wouldn't you want to be walking to work every morning? I have the option to take the bus but so far I've enjoyed the 25 minute walk.

Bottled up

Don't have a wallet filled with enough $$$$ to buy designs from famed designer Karl Lagerfeld? I know I don't.. I do know there is one item I will be able to purchase soon enough though: the limited diet coke edition Lagerfeld has recently launched. The cute bottles will be available as of June 2011 and feature ads with models Coco Rocha, Jeneil Williams and Heidi Mount.

These bottles will definitely not be going in my recycling once i'm done drinking them but more onto a shelve! :)

Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet..

The weather this weekend has been pretty dull compared to the beautiful week we had. It was basically all showers the entire time. That type of weather means one thing to me: Watch the rain fall in the comfort of my living room in my jogging pants. At one point though saturday we decided to go out to have an early dinner/late lunch and catch the movie Hanna. Unfortunately once we got to the movie's, it was sold out..So we did what we should have done in the first place when it rains; We bought some old movies, wine and I slipped into my *Not so loved by the boyfriend pants* ;)

If the shoe fits, wear it...

For some reason i've always had a big issue with my feet...All of the shoes I've previously owned have left them pretty torn up to not say the least. But, ever since buying my first pair of MK, I've discovered I can wear heels for more than 3 hours and not want to cry. That is how I came to slowly building my collection ;) I know wedges will be huge this summer and I am torn between these two different espadrilles models. Both are extremely comfortable and similar in style although I find the first pair to be a little bulky... Anyone have an input?

Spring/Summer inspiration

In the previous post I talked about Canadian designer Amanda Lew Kee's Fall/Winter 2011 collection so I decided to look up her Spring collection which she had debuted back in October to get inspiration for my Summer shopping. :) What I saw on her website: amandalewkee.com showcased exactly what i'm looking for; Lightweight simple fabrics in natural colours like beiges and peaches. Just simple pieces to throw on on warm summer days while still looking put together. For some reason when I think about summer clothes for this season this is all what comes to mind:
